Gareth Roberts is one of the two co-founders of 2Co Energy and brings his 20 years of expertise of transporting CO₂ by pipeline and storing it permanently in oil fields while the CO₂ also helps produce more of the oil reserves than is otherwise possible.

Gareth founded Denbury Management, Inc in April 1990, has been a director of Denbury since 1990 and was President and Chief Executive Officer of Denbury Resources from 1992 to 2009. Denbury now has a market capitalisation of some $7bn, handles 20 million tonnes per annum of CO₂ and operates a still growing network of 700 miles of CO₂ pipelines. He currently serves as Co-Chairman of the Board and Chief Strategist for the Company.

He has more than 30 years of experience in the exploration and development of oil and natural gas properties with Texaco, Inc., Murphy Oil Corporation and Coho Resources, Inc. His expertise has been particularly focused in the US Gulf Coast region where he specialises in the acquisition and development of old fields with low productivity and the application of Enhanced Oil Recovery techniques using CO₂.

Gareth holds honours and masters degrees in geology from St. Edmund Hall, Oxford University, where he has been elected to an Honorary Fellowship.
